This section provides information about partnership work to improve transport options for people who live and work in the Borough.
East Surrey Rural Transport Partnership
The East Surrey Rural Transport Partnership (ESRTP) aims to improve access to transport services for those who through age, physical disability or lack of public transport cannot make the day-to-day journeys most would consider normal. The partnership also aims to help young people get to college and work with schemes such as 'Wheels 2 Work'.
The work is mainly in Reigate and Banstead, Mole Valley and Tandridge but also extends into the northerly boroughs of Elmbridge and Epsom & Ewell.
Projects for older people include:
- A Community Transport Directory to help you find schemes in your area that may be able to help with transport to a medical appointment, to do the weekly shopping and other daily tasks.
- Buses 4U Reigate and Banstead (formally Dial-a-Ride) is run on what is known as a ‘demand responsive’ basis. That is, it has no fixed route and no timetable but runs to the demand of passengers who have made a booking. It can pick you up from outside your door and take you to your destination.
Projects for young people include:
- The Wheels 2 Work moped loan scheme for those 16+ who have an offer of work they cannot reach using private or public transport.
- The Wheels 2 Learn moped loan scheme for those 16+ who have an offer of education or training they cannot reach using private or public transport.

East Area of Surrey Initiative for Transport car sharing
The East Area of Surrey Initiative for Transport was set up to tackle congestion in Mole Valley and Reigate and Banstead and offers the opportunity for car sharing.
