Reigate & Banstead 2030

6. Reigate & Banstead 2030 - Our Vision

Our Vision

Our Vision is of a healthy, sustainable borough; and a resilient Council that enables our communities to thrive and provides support for those in need.

This page provides a summary of the plan's vision and several key elements.

Achieving our Vision

Our corporate plan priorities explain what the vision means in practice for the work that the Council does.

Across all our work we are committed to acting in a way that is environmentally and financially sustainable, and treating everyone fairly and with respect.

Financial sustainability

The Council needs to stay financially sustainable and maintain a balanced budget.

Each plan objective includes information on how it can contribute to the Council's financial sustainability.

Objective 3.1.1 is especially relevant to this goal, with additional information on how we will safeguard the Council's finances.

You can find more information on the finance pages of the Council's website.

Environmental sustainability

The Council is committed to environmental sustainability. As part of the corporate plan we will work to be more sustainable, including:

  • Being a net zero organisation by 2030
  • Being a net zero borough by 2050
  • Minimising waste and demands on natural resources
  • Preserving the natural environment and enhancing biodiversity
  • Adapting and being resilient to the changing climate

Each plan objective includes information on how it can contribute to environmental sustainability.

There are several objectives that are especially relevant to this goal, including:

Equality objectives

One of our key responsibilities is to eliminate unlawful discrimination, harassment and victimisation, advance equality of opportunity, and foster good relations.

As part of this duty, the corporate plan sets out four equality objectives. These are to:

  • Plan and shape services to support equality and local using data and local insight
  • Support strong, inclusive communities
  • Provide information and services in an accessible way
  • Embrace equality and inclusion as an employer

The plan reflects these objectives across its priorities, and more information is included a dedicated section of the plan.

You can find more information on the equality pages of the Council's website.
