Housing costs (rent and mortgage payments) are priority debts, meaning falling behind with them can lead to serious problems.

Discretionary housing payment
You may be able to apply for a discretionary housing payment for help towards paying your private or social rent. This is paid separately to housing benefit or Universal Credit.
