Community development sees local people come together to make positive changes to their community.

We have a team of Community Development Workers covering five of the borough's neighbourhoods. The local Community Development Worker can help and support communities in these neighbourhoods in a variety of ways.

If you have an idea for something that could make your community a better, safer or healthier place to live, get in touch with your local Community Development Worker:

Community development impact

The Community Development annual impact report provides an overview of the team's work.

Local Government Association case study

Loneliness and social isolation are growing problems, affecting people of all ages.

The Local Government Association (LGA) asked us to share our experiences of bringing people together to help reduce isolation and published a case study - GOV.UK example on their website.

It highlights the positive impact our team can have when working with individuals and groups. It also explains our focus on supporting our communities to help themselves, enabling them to develop and start their own schemes that they keep going. Whether it's low-cost football sessions or good neighbour schemes, they can all help reduce loneliness, as well as encourage interaction and activity.

The case study - GOV.UK is also a useful way to find out more about how we work together with residents, volunteers and NHS partners to improve people's lives.
