Apply for the decarbonisation grant for community groups
Please read the accompanying guidance note before completing the application form.
This autumn we are offering grants for community organisations to prepare to decarbonise. We want to support community groups help reduce our borough's carbon emissions to fight climate change. The council are also looking at our own operations, supporting business and individual residents as well.
Building energy use or transport could allow for lower carbon alternatives which will also cut your bills. There might be options around low carbon heating, vehicles, insulation, lighting, equipment, waste, cooling and electricity generation.
Note, we cannot fund capital kit (e.g. solar panels) we can fund the planning for that work. So this would be revenue rather than capital funding. Some examples are given below.
Eligible organisations will be local to the borough, self-governing and not for profit groups or organisations, which works for the benefit of the public.
Minimum grant amount £500, maximum £2,000.
September - October 2024
- Applications will be open through September until 31 October 2024.
- Assessment – will be at the end of October with grants awarded at the start of November.
- You must be able to deliver the work before the end of March 2025.
Examples of the work we might fund:
- A non-domestic energy assessment/low carbon plan
- Business case writing
- Roof surveys (for example for pre-solar PV installation)
- Advice on a decarbonisation plan
