More about the low carbon training

We are pleased to be able to offer this free training in partnership with Inspiration Space.

The Low Carbon Accelerator is a nine-week course that helps businesses gain knowledge, credibility and support with grant funding to kickstart their low-carbon evolution.

Startups and small businesses in the borough can sign up today. Created by Inspiration Space, you’ll work with Carbon Literacy experts to create a net-zero roadmap you can use for Carbon Literacy Accreditation and LoCASE grant funding.

The programme removes the complication from the low-carbon transition by helping startups and small companies develop a competitive advantage that protects the planet, people and profit.

Learn simple swaps you can make today to reduce your carbon footprint. Then, working together in a group, apply your new found knowledge to your business so you can delight your customers, access new sources of funding and save money.

Course content

The programme starts with an education in Climate Science. Using interactive tools and videos, you’ll learn the science behind climate change and how rising temperatures will impact your business and your home.

You’ll be able to track your progress with Small99 Hero, a personalised portal where you can track your progress, generate environmental policies and access a long list of tools that will help you on the net-zero journey.

Participants will then work with peer mentors to create a plan for accreditation. Once complete, you'll join the likes of Patagonia and the BBC as a Carbon Literate Organisation.

In addition, the portfolio of work you create can be used to support a grant application to LoCASE (Surrey County Council website). Past participants have received up to £25,000 in funding to execute their low carbon vision.

Rebecca Trudgett, Founder of Farnham based accountancy practice, Switchfoot said:

"Now I have a carbon reduction toolkit I can use to make better purchasing decisions at home and in my business. I enjoyed the group discussion and hearing what other people were already doing to take action. We have applied to LoCASE for funding, and received £25,000 to make our new office space more energy efficient.”
