The Valuation Office Agency has reduced the Council Tax bands for a number of Redhill properties following a challenge.

The re-banding is backdated to when Council Tax was introduced in 1993 and we have issued a large number of bills and credit statements for all current and former occupiers of these properties.

If you have (or believe you have) received post to your address relating to this refund, please note the following:

  • Post addressed to a previous occupier of your property, or anyone else who is not known to you, should be returned unopened as outlined in these Post Office instructions for wrongly delivered mail
  • Post addressed to someone who is deceased should be opened and the application for a refund made by an executor of their estate or their next of kin. Where possible, evidence of this status should be provided, but if evidence cannot be provided, or if there are no executors of the estate or next of kin who can made an application for a refund, then contact the Council Tax department for further advice.
  • If you have received a bill showing an outstanding balance that you don’t think is correct, then contact the Council Tax department.
