Preston Planning Framework
This section is intended to help people looking for information about the Preston Planning Framework.
The Council's Executive approved the Preston Planning Framework on the 19 April 2012. The Planning Framework will guide the physical regeneration of the Preston area and is based on the objectives set out in the Corporate Plan and the Draft Preston Regeneration SPD.
The Planning Framework has been prepared in advance of the Development Management Policies DPD, but will eventually be incorporated into the DPD. The focus of the Framework is on the provision of a community/village hub (including a leisure centre), housing provision, enhancements to some existing housing, enhancements to public open space and improvements to movement and accessibility.
Public consultation on the draft Planning Framework was undertaken between November 2011 and January 2012. Thank you for all the comments submitted. A summary of the findings can be found on the consultation feedback page.

Background
Work on regeneration initiatives for the Preston regeneration area has been ongoing for a number of years.
The Council publicly consulted on a draft Planning Framework for Preston between November 2011 and January 2012:

- Sustainability Appraisal Report (Non-technical summary) (PDF document [256.9Kb]) (pdf)

A Preston Regeneration Masterplan was produced in December 2005 following extensive public consultation during 2004/5. This served as the basis for the preparation of the Draft Preston Regeneration SPD, which was publicly consulted on in 2006.
The SPD was not progressed any further as it was the intention for these policies and site allocations to be taken forward in the Development Management Policies DPD. However, delays in the preparation of the Development Management DPD meant that interim guidance is now required for the Preston Regeneration area. The previous work and consultation responses have helped inform the preparation of the 2011 Draft Preston Regeneration Planning Framework.
