To inform the Local Development Framework a number of background studies have been undertaken or information brought together, to understand key aspects of the social, economic and environmental characteristics of the Borough and plan for the future.

The evidence base is constantly developing and in this section you can find information about individual pieces of research that have been undertaken on each topic area to inform the Local Development Framework.

Appropriate Assessment

Information on the Appropriate Assessment for the Core Strategy is available.

Economic Research

Research and information about the borough economy including the Economic Market Assessment is available.

Design and Parking Review

Research and information about the Design and Parking Review is available.

Flood Risk

The Strategic Flood Risk Assessment is available to view.

Housing

Information and research on housing is available. The council has completed a Strategic Housing Land Availability Assessment, Strategic Housing Market Assessment, Housing Viability Study and Gypsy and Traveller Accommodation Assessment.

Infrastructure Delivery

Information and research is available on the borough's infrastructure needs. The council has produced a Delivery Plan.

Landscape and Natural Environment

The council has completed a Landscape and Townscape character assessment, Area of Great Landscape Value Assessment, and PPG17 Open Space Assessment.

Minerals

Surrey County Council has responsibility for preparing a minerals plan to guide determination of future applications for minerals development in Surrey to 2026.

Retail and Leisure Needs

A Retail and Leisure Needs Assessment has been undertaken and updated with a supplementary report about the retail needs of Redhill.

Sustainable Construction

A number of studies have been completed on the potential for a Landfill Gas Combined Heating Power system for Redhill, Carbon Offset Fund, Short Rotation Coppice Planting in Horley Riverside Green Chain, and a Wood Fuel Chain Supply study.
