A Community Advisory Group

We’ve invited individuals to join an advisory group that will help shape and guide the modernisation proposals for Horley Community Centre.

Community engagement

We've been engaging with local people - including centre visitors, volunteers, local residents and service providers - since 2021. Here's an overview with the most recent activity first.

Understanding community needs and aspirations, 2021 to 2022

Community engagement during 2021 and 2022 helped to develop proposals for Horley Community Centre. Local people told us that providing spaces for visitors of all ages to connect and focus on their wellbeing is a priority.

Our first public survey, that asked for people’s views on how we could improve the building and the future activities, closed in November 2022. Over three-quarters of people who responded to our 2022 survey, told us that if the Council were able to host more of the activities that they are interested in (such as learning new skills, social activities or exercise classes) then they would be highly likely or likely to visit.

The survey also asked about the food and drink offer you would like to see, with 65% of all respondents wanting a coffee shop.
