Reigate & Banstead Borough Council has recognised several individuals, groups, and organisations for going over and beyond in their selfless service to the community.
In total, 55 individuals were honoured at this year’s Reigate & Banstead Volunteer Awards with the ceremonies taking place at the Town Hall on Friday 17 and Monday 20 July.
Organised in partnership with Voluntary Action Surrey East (VASE), the awards have become a great way for the community through the Council, to thank those who selflessly give up their time and effort for the benefit of others.
Presenting the awards, Cllr Nick Harrison, Mayor of the Borough of Reigate & Banstead said: “Reading the citations, I was amazed at the incredible dedication and kindness shown by all the winners. Their dedication and selflessness are what makes them exceptional. I know many volunteers don’t do this for recognition, but I want to take this opportunity to say thank you to them for going over and beyond in the service of our community. This year’s winners should all be proud.”
Ray Wilkinson, VASE Chair of Trustees said “I never cease to be amazed by the commitment of people who are recognised in the Reigate and Banstead Volunteer Awards. They are always folk who have limited time but seemingly boundless energy and passion for their particular cause. Volunteering is the glue that keeps our community together and it is right and proper that the most outstanding volunteers receive the recognition they deserve."
