Designed to build momentum and speed, a Pump Track is an exhilarating course of twists, turns, and bumps to challenge bike riders and skateboarders alike.

A brand-new track is now open for thrillseekers to visit in South Park, Reigate.

So, whether you're a mountain biker, BMX rider, or skater... the new site can be used by all sorts of people-powered wheels! This is an exciting addition to the borough, where users of all abilities can improve their skills and build their confidence while getting active outdoors.

The new facility has been funded thanks to two £20,000 grants. One is from Reigate & Banstead Borough Council’s Community Infrastructure Levy, while the other has been awarded from the Places to Ride fund, delivered in partnership by the Department for Digital, Sport, Media & Culture, British Cycling and Sport England.

Cllr Mrs Natalie Bramhall, Executive Member for Neighbourhood Services said: “We’re thrilled to see this new facility open in South Park. I know residents have been eagerly awaiting its opening, and I hope they can make the most of it during the Christmas school holidays. It’s another fantastic addition to our borough’s green and open spaces, and we hope residents of all ages will enjoy using the site. If you’ve never tried something like this before, come and give it a go!”

Andy Farr, Head of Business Planning and Transformation at British Cycling, added: “Reigate & Banstead Borough Council is doing great work to get more people cycling around the borough, so we are pleased to support their efforts to bring the community together and open a brand-new Pump Track through Places to Ride.

“As we enter the final period of allocating grants through the fund, we are incredibly proud to see how it has already enabled so many people from a range of backgrounds – regardless of age, gender, ability or ethnicity – to get involved with cycling.”

Charles Johnston, Sport England Director of Property continued: “Sport England is proud to be delivering, in partnership with British Cycling, the single biggest government investment into community cycling facilities the country has seen in recent years. The investment will provide more facilities such as tracks and bike centres, where people can ride confidently and safely, as well as access to essential equipment they need to have a go.”

We're excited to see residents enjoying the pump track. If you take a picture or video of yourself completing a new trick, send it to @reigatebanstead on Instagram, Facebook, and Twitter.
