Today sees the launch of a new employment website developed by Reigate & Banstead Borough Council in collaboration with the borough’s major employers.

Launching at a critical time for residents who may be looking for a job, a career change, or wishing to work closer to home, the website is dedicated to mapping out the local employment landscape and employment opportunities.

Residents using the website - Reigate & Banstead Works - will find information about the key sectors and industries in the borough, the major employers and where they are located, the wide range of jobs available locally, as well as a search tool to find the latest, live vacancies.

To raise awareness of the key employers in the borough, users of the site will find in-depth profiles on Kimberly-Clark, Willis Towers Watson, Surrey and Sussex Healthcare NHS Trust, Raven Housing Trust, SES Water and Osborne, as well as an A-Z directory of a further 30 businesses headquartered or with regional offices in the borough. The intention is to expand the directory of companies profiled on the site over time.

Jobseekers will also find useful career tools, including a CV-builder and links to free, online digital and employability skills resources, supporting people to improve their chances in the marketplace.

Councillor Eddy Humphreys, Executive Member for Business and Economy, says: “While it’s clear that our local residents and the economy continue to face many challenges, we are fortunate to have a strong local business community. Reigate & Banstead Works is a fantastic, new resource for residents, which will raise the profile of our local employers and the wide range of quality employment opportunities. As we eventually look towards recovery, I anticipate that many more residents will want to explore the option of working locally, actively supporting their local community and helping the local economy to thrive, while enjoying the improvements in work-life balance that a reduction in commuting can offer. By bringing together our employers and prospective local employees together in this way, I hope we enable connections to be built, both now and into the future.”

Mo O’Brien, UK HR Director, Kimberly-Clark, says: “We are delighted to be working with Reigate & Banstead Borough Council to highlight employment opportunities with local businesses. We are always looking to find new talent locally and we offer a range of diverse opportunities based in Reigate but working across the EMEA (Europe, Middle-East and Africa) region and across our leading brands including Andrex, Kleenex and Huggies, as well as our Professional brands.”

Chloe Fineman, Technology Recruiter-GB, Willis Towers Watson, says: “The new Reigate & Banstead employment website is a free-to-use platform that will help to promote jobs in the local area. It is important that local opportunities are accessible and visible to residents and this is a quick and easy way for employers in the area to highlight the vacancies they have available.”

The launch of Reigate & Banstead Works follows the roll-out of a free, digital careers platform for schools, also developed by Reigate & Banstead Borough Council, and designed to connect 11-18-year-olds with future career options. The Start Reigate & Banstead site enables the borough’s schools to forge stronger links with employers and to support young people with clear and insightful information to inspire their career choices, while also encouraging a pipeline of future talent for local businesses.

Chloe Fineman from Willis Towers Watson, adds: “The Start Reigate & Banstead careers platform will provide the tools to help young people develop a career plan early on. We look forward to our involvement in the project and to finding future Willis Towers Watson colleagues through this initiative.”
