The Council’s project to build 32 new flats at Cromwell Road in Redhill began earlier this month. Meanwhile 25 new homes are already under construction at Pitwood Park in Tadworth.

At least 30% of the homes will be affordable.

The project will be delivered by Neilcott Construction Ltd and work will begin with site set-up, hoarding installation and groundworks. It is expected to be complete in Autumn 2021.

Excellent early progress has been made by developers Thakeham Client Ltd, with groundworks well underway. Expected completion is in summer 2021.

Much needed homes

Cllr Knight, Executive Member for Housing and Benefits, said: “I’m really pleased that we are moving ahead with these important schemes despite the challenging times we find ourselves in.

“We are committed to making our communities great places for people to live and work. By delivering these projects ourselves we can regenerate two redundant sites while creating much needed new homes, including more affordable homes.

“Both Thakeham and Neilcott have extensive experience in delivering similar high-quality projects. Both companies are working in line with government guidelines for delivering construction projects as business as usual during the Covid-19 outbreak.”
