The Light Cinemas has been unveiled as the chosen cinema operator for the Council's landmark development scheme at Marketfield Way in Redhill.

The Green Room at latest Light Cinema to open in SheffieldThe Light Cinemas is the UK’s fastest growing cinema operator with seven cinemas and plans to open 20 more in the next four years. 

The company has been granted a 30 year lease to operate the seven-screen, 500 seat cinema once the development is competed.

Every screen will have state of the art digital sound and projection and specially designed, extra wide reclining seats as standard, so viewers can watch their chosen film in comfort.  All screens are also licensed and have side tables for food and drinks.  

The contemporary design includes The Green Room; an area that can be enjoyed by both cinema goers and those who just want somewhere relaxed to meet up. 

Programming will range from blockbusters to independent films as well as live broadcasts of opera, ballet, music and sport. The Light also has a dedicated team to work with schools and colleges for educational programmes and engagement with the community.

When complete, the new complex will give residents and workers more leisure choice locally, particularly in the evening and will boost the local economy by creating new jobs and increasing spend in the town.”

The multimillion pound complex will also feature family-style restaurants and new shops with 153 studio, one and two bedroom flats for private rent above and a new pedestrian route connecting the High Street to Marketfield Way.

Construction is currently planned to start in 2018 and be complete in 2020.
