Here’s our latest statement on cancelled industrial action by some refuse crews.

Reigate & Banstead Borough Council is pleased to confirm a settlement with the GMB union, which represents some of RBBC’s refuse and recycling drivers and loaders, has been reached. As a result of this settlement, proposed industrial action by these staff has been called off.

Following a pre-planned discussion between the Council and the GMB on 27 June 2017, GMB agreed to abide by an existing and legally-binding ACAS arbitration decision. In doing so the GMB accepted previously agreed and implemented changes to refuse and recycling staff’s Terms and Conditions.

The Council has issued a statement to affected staff apologising for any confusion or upset caused to them by the negotiations between the Council and the GMB.

The Council regards this matter as closed and looks forward to future positive working relationships with its refuse and recycling crews and the GMB.
