1. Notice of Intention to commence the Reigate & Banstead Local Plan 2044
Under the new planning system (legislation.gov.uk), local planning authorities are required to publish a notice of their intention to commence preparation of a new Local Plan. The purpose of this notice is to give communities and other interested persons advance notice of plan-making and information about when and how they may participate in the preparation of the new Local Plan.
Date of publication: 31 July 2026
In accordance with Regulation 19 of the Town and Country Planning (Local Planning) (England) Regulations 2026, Reigate & Banstead Borough Council gives notice that it intends to commence preparation of a new Local Plan and sets out the following information.
Regulation 19 (2)
The notice of intention to commence Local Plan preparation must contain the following information:

| (d) details of where the local planning authority's Local Plan timetable is published: |
The Council’s Local Plan timetable is published on our Local Plan 2044 timetable webpage. A copy of the timetable may also be inspected at the Council Offices reception desk, Reigate Town Hall, Castlefield Road, Reigate, RH2 0SH, from 9am to 5pm Monday to Thursday, and from 9am to 4.45pm on Friday. On the second Wednesday of each month, reception closes at 4pm. Copies of the timetable will also be available for inspection at the borough’s libraries. Please see Libraries in Surrey (Surrey County Council) to find your nearest library and check opening hours. A copy of the timetable is also available on request by email to planning.policy@reigate-banstead.gov.uk |

| Date the Council expects to start preparing the plan: | In accordance with the published Local Plan timetable, the Council expects to publish its Gateway 1 self-assessment summary in December 2026. This will mark the start of the 30-month plan preparation process. |
