Local Plan 2044
We’re starting work on a new Local Plan that will shape the future of Reigate & Banstead to 2044.
The plan will set out where new development like homes, commercial space and facilities will go and guide what that development looks like. It also ensures that facilities and services such as schools, health services and transport links are put in place to support development, and protects the environment and character of the area.
The first step in the Government’s new plan-making process is to formally give notice of our intention to commence work on our Local Plan and set out our timetable for developing it. There will be opportunities to help shape the plan in due course.
Prior to starting work on the new plan, we have been carrying out some background work on the evidence base to support its development.
Once adopted, the new Local Plan will replace the 2014 Core Strategy and the 2019 Development Management Plan, and its policies used to make decisions on planning applications.
