Arts, culture and community continuation grants - now closed
This fund was established in response to the unexpected closure of the Harlequin Theatre and Cinema in September 2023, due to the presence of RAAC (Reinforced Autoclaved Aerated Concrete). As a result, many local not-for-profit community and arts organisations were required to relocate their activities at short notice, often incurring additional venue-related costs.
To support these organisations, a total fund of £30,000 was made available. The grant aimed to help cover the additional costs associated with hiring alternative venues and accessing essential equipment. Applications were open for an eight-week period and invited submissions from not-for-profit arts and culture organisations operating within the borough.
As this was a pilot scheme, no decision has yet been made about a future funding round. A review of the pilot will take place in October 2025 to consider potential continuation into 2026/27. Updates will be shared on this page in due course.
