Here is some guidance for TEN applications:

  • The Police and Environmental Health may not allow a TEN if there have been problems associated with the premises or the business and they may intervene on the grounds of any of the four licensing objectives;
  • The maximum number of events per year covered by a TEN at a single premises is 15 a year;
  • The length of time a temporary event may last is 168 hours or seven days;
  • The maximum aggregate duration of the periods covered by temporary event notices at any individual premises is 21 days per calendar year;
  • Anyone who does not hold a personal licence can only submit five TENs in any calendar year;
  • Personal licence holders are subject to a limit of 50 temporary events per calendar year;
  • A TEN may be sought for an event involving up to 499 people (including any performers or staff);
  • The minimum period between events authorised under separate TENs in relation to the same premises (not including withdrawn TENs) by the same premises user is 24 hours;
  • There are two types of TEN: a standard TEN and a late TEN. These are subject to different processes: a standard notice is given no later than ten working days before the event to which it relates; and a late notice is given not before nine and not later than five working days before the event. The number of times a person may give a late temporary event notice is 10 times per year for a personal licence holder and two times per year for other people.
