Horley Open Space Survey 2025

Horley's new town park at Tanyard Meadows is being designed with the community, for the community.

Feedback though our Horley open spaces survey (2024-2025) from clubs, sporting bodies and hundreds of residents has played a role in shaping early stage design ideas, which prioritise grassroots sport, create more space for children and teenagers, improve accessibility and inclusivity, and enhance the overall quality of the open space.

 Through the survey, 777 residents and 13 community organisations shared their views. Key findings include:

• a strong demand for better sports and play facilities
• insufficient provision for children under 12 and teenagers
• a need for improved quality of pitches and facilities for sports.

Project stage 1 consultation

The first phase of community engagement on early designs for the new park, took place during June and July (2026). We ran a survey on the proposals so far and held various engagement events, including:

• Trinity Oak Primary School workshop
• YCMA workshop
• Oakwood School workshop
• Horley Carnival pop-up event
• Resident drop-in session at Orchard Playground

Thank you to everyone who took part and shared their views at the events or via the survey.

The project team is currently reviewing all the feedback received. The findings will help inform the next stages of the design process.

A further round of consultation is planned for September/October (2026), when residents and stakeholders will have another opportunity to review emerging proposals and help shape the future of the park.
