3. Refurbishing Memorial Park play area
This popular play area was installed in 2014 as part of a major upgrade of Memorial Park. It now needs updating with new equipment and landscaping which children of all ages and abilities can enjoy.
This refurbishment is being funded through the community infrastructure levy (a charge that local authorities can set on new development to help fund local facilities and services).
During May 2026 we asked local people about the play equipment they would like to see more or less of in Memorial Park.
Next steps
- Summer 2026: reviewing feedback to help to shape the brief, which sets out what we want to see in the refurbished play area
- Summer/Autumn 2026: competitive tender process to find a contractor to design and install the new play area
- Winter 2026/27: work could start on refurbishing the play area
