1. After you apply for planning permission
Now that you have submitted your planning application we are required by law to follow set procedures:
- Step 1 - the application is registered
- Step 2 - letters are sent to neighbours most likely to be affected by the application
- Step 3 - other relevant organisations (e.g. the Highway Authority) are contacted to provide their views
- Step 4 - the site is inspected by one of our planning officers
- Step 5 - the proposal is assessed against government guidance and council policy
- Step 6 - other material considerations, such as the effect on neighbours, or highway safety are considered
- Step 7 - we may ask for amendments to the original application
- Step 8 - permission is granted (with or without conditions) or refused. Information on appeals.
