Community engagement is one of the key activities carried out by the CD team. We engage with residents on a day-to-day basis through the delivery of projects and by being based in community venues. During 2023 we embarked on a series of listening events with Stuart Woods, the SCC Community Link Officer for Reigate and Banstead. A total of 11 events took place, some hyper local looking at a specific road or block of flats and some larger events including:

Timperley Gardens - Summer Event

Eli worked with a range of partners to provide this opportunity to engage with residents of this small area to help raise the profile of local services and find out what is important to them. The top three issues for the residents who engaged were:

  • mental health and wellbeing
  • help with food costs
  • help with utility costs

Preston Community Day

Maria has been at the centre of organising the Preston Community Day for five years. This popular event sees several hundred local people coming out to find out about local services and to have fun together. The top three issues for people in Preston were:

  • youth activities and engagement
  • improving awareness of what services/group/activities are accessible in the area
  • mental health and wellbeing
