Modern slavery is a hidden crime, and it is closer than we think. It is happening in every corner of the country, and that includes here, in our borough.

Our borough may feel like an unlikely place for such atrocious acts to take place – but the shocking truth is that victims of modern slavery are everywhere, even in the leafy towns and villages of Surrey.

We have extensive road and rail links to ports, London and the wider UK .

Victims of modern slavery or human trafficking may not fit the stereotype of people being forced to work in nail bars, however, evidence suggests some areas of work are more likely: nail bars, hand car washes, construction sites, hospitality, warehouses and factories.
