Reigate Heath Steering Group minutes - 27 June 2024
Walk around
Golf Club
MC is planning to undertake Heather restoration. This involves mowing and scraping off the top layer of soil. He is going to apply to Natural England with the plans. The group were in agreement this was a good idea.
RBBC
The council will be clearing the vegetation off the tumuli. In the area that was cleared of bracken last Winter, the bracken will be mown and treated again and the topsoil will be scraped off.
RACV
The volunteers will continue to work on improving the condition of the wet heath area and hand pull Himalayan Balsam.
Grass cutting
TC presented the new mowing regime which he will write up and send out to the group. Members of the group are welcome to give feedback.
Trees
TC explained the council’s tree strategy. The strategy is that any dangerous tree (danger to the public or property) will be felled with little warning. Otherwise the planned felling of trees will be communicated to the group and feedback will be taken on board.
Meeting in the Golf Club
JET
RD from JET joined the meeting to take questions from the group. He said it can be hard to monitor as no JET officers work the weekend. JET are making progress with the man with the minivan however can be difficult if he is not seen to be undertaking in any anti-social behaviour.
Management Plan update
The Management Plan is sitting with Head of Service and is awaiting approval.
ToR and Love your Heath event was pushed to the next meeting due to time and attendance.

KH asked about signs at Flanchford road. KH to mark on a map where she would like the signs to go.
