Club start-up scheme
Free sports hall/studio space
Reigate & Banstead Borough Council in partnership with Better, for 2026, are offering free sports hall/studio space at Donyngs (Better website), Horley Leisure Centre (Better website) or Tadworth Leisure and Community Centre (Better website) for 1-3 hours a week to a maximum of 3 clubs (1 per site), for one year (term time only) from January 2026 - December 2026. Days and times of sessions will be subject to availability. Times available are outlined in the application form.
The scheme aims to support the start-up of new activities to improve the health and wellbeing of our residents. The activity can be for any demographic including children, adults, older people, people with disabilities, ethnic minorities and women-only sessions.
Clubs must meet the following criteria:
- Must be a new sport/activity club or an existing club looking to start new sessions for a different demographic.
- Have a head coach with a level 2 coaching qualification or equivalent experience.
- Provide a risk assessment for your activity.
- Coaches must have an enhanced DBS check if working with children or vulnerable adults.
- Must be able to demonstrate there is a need for your activity in the local community.
- Provide sessions which are open to the public.
- The club must have capacity for new members.
- The club must have a sustainability plan to continue delivery after the free hours stop.
