Community energy is the delivery of community-led renewable energy, energy demand reduction and energy supply projects. For example this could be a solar farm owned by a Community Benefit Company or trained energy advisers helping local people reduce their energy usage.

The website of  Community Energy England can tell you more.

Support from Community Energy South and Surrey County Council

A new initiative provides support and training for the development of community-led renewable energy groups and projects. It will provide free resources, business development support, funding and networking opportunities to kick start new organisations.

Let us know what you are doing

Get in touch if you are already working in this field locally. We aim to reduce carbon emissions across the borough and are exploring opportunities for local energy projects with local groups and organisations. Our work includes facilitating collaboration between groups and signposting to relevant available grants.
