Community Asset Transfer and Support Programme

The Council recognises the significant value that community assets provide in supporting the wellbeing, development, and cohesion of the residents and local communities in the borough.

The Community Asset Transfer and Support Programme supports the long-term sustainability of community assets in Reigate & Banstead through

  • Community Asset Transfer
  • the Community Asset Support Scheme
  • grant funding opportunities where available

A key ambition of this programme is to keep council-owned assets in local control beyond the life of the Council.

Current funding: Community Asset Support Scheme Grants 2026/27

Grants of between £3,000 and £20,000 are available to eligible voluntary, community and not-for-profit organisations for physical improvements to community assets in Reigate & Banstead.

The total funding available is up to £200,000 and up to 25 grants are expected to be awarded.

The deadline for Expressions of Interest is 2 November 2026.

Decisions are expected in early December 2026, and funded projects must be completed and grant funding spent in full by 31 March 2027.

Applicants should use the Guidance for Community Asset Support Scheme Grants 2026/27 as the key document for this funding round.

Community Asset Support Scheme Grants 2026/27 - guidance for applicants

First-round Community Asset Transfer and Support Programme 2025/26 (now closed)

The first round of the Community Asset Transfer and Support Programme ran from November 2025 to May 2026.

The Council invited Expressions of Interest from eligible organisations for three areas of support.

1.    Community Asset Transfer

For organisations seeking the transfer of an asset currently owned by the Council in order to deliver community benefits into the future.

Alongside the transfer, organisations could also request support towards capital improvements and/or initial running costs where these were necessary to support the long-term sustainability of the asset.

2.    Asset acquisition followed by Community Asset Transfer

For organisations wishing the Council to acquire an asset that it did not currently own so that the organisation could then take over its management and operation to deliver community benefit into the future.

Alongside the transfer, organisations could also request support towards capital improvements and/or initial running costs where these were necessary to support the long-term sustainability of the asset.

3.    Grants to improve community assets already owned by an eligible organisation

For organisations seeking funding to improve community assets already owned or leased by an eligible organisation.
