Retail and Leisure Needs Assessment

A borough-wide Retail and Leisure Needs Assessment was completed in 2007. The purpose of the study was to:

  • establish whether there is a need for additional retail and leisure floorspace in Redhill Town Centre to 2016 and beyond, and if so, the amount, type and size of units are needed
  • inform the preparation of town, district and local centre policies and proposals for inclusion in the council's emerging Core Strategy and Redhill Town Centre Area Action Plan
  • provide information to assist the council in determining planning applications involving new, or loss of existing, retail floorspace.

An supplement to the original assessment was completed in 2009 to inform the need for convenience floorspace in Redhill.

2011 Retail and Leisure Needs Assessment Update

In 2011, consultants were commissioned to undertake a full update to the Retail and Leisure Needs Assessment to inform revisions to the Core Strategy, and the development of the Redhill Town Centre Area Action Plan.
