Parking bay suspensions and dispensation waivers
This page is about parking bay suspensions and dispensation waivers in the Borough of Reigate and Banstead and the District of Tandridge.
Am I eligible?
Parking Dispensations will only be granted in exceptional circumstances and are not intended to provide convenience parking.
Parking a van containing small hand tools or materials for the day’s work or a vehicle that carries workers to and from a site are considered convenience parking. These actions are covered by existing regulations for loading, unloading or setting down passengers.
A Parking Dispensation allows a driver to leave a vehicle parked where restrictions are in place and only applies to single or double yellow lines and limited waiting bays. It does not allow parking in bus stops, taxi ranks, school keep clears, disabled bays or where a loading ban applies.
Valid for one vehicle
The dispensation will only be valid for one vehicle at any one time. If more than one vehicle is required on site then a separate Parking Dispensation for each vehicle should be obtained.
A dispensation is only valid for the vehicle for which it is issued. If the dispensation is placed in a different vehicle to the one stated on the dispensation or if the dispensation is changed or altered in any way then it will be deemed invalid and a Penalty Charge Notice (PCN) will be issued to the vehicle.
Single event and location
A dispensation is normally only granted for a single event and between predetermined hours. Under certain conditions they may be granted for up to four consecutive weeks at a specific location but for no longer. Further extensions will require new applications to be made in order to allow the parking, traffic and safety situation to be reviewed by the Council.
Vehicle must be moved on request
The vehicle must be moved on the request or instructions of a Police Officer or a Civil Enforcement Officer in uniform. If it is deemed necessary a Parking Dispensation may be withdrawn without notice and we are not required to offer any compensation or an alternative parking place. Your contact details will be used in this instance to inform you.
Civil Enforcement Officers employed by Reigate & Banstead Borough Council will conduct inspections during the operation of the Parking Dispensation to establish the vehicle is being used for the purpose that the dispensation was issued.
Application
Applications must be received a minimum of 10 days before the dispensation start date. Time should be added for delays caused by the post.
Full terms and conditions are shown on the application form.
