Food safety and businesses
This section has been designed to assist people already in a food business or those preparing to set up new businesses.
Food safety and hygiene for the public gives information on making a complaint about a food product or food business.
Our interest in the production, preparation, transportation and sale of food, and all the other processes in between, is to ensure, as far as possible, that the food we eat is safe and will not harm us.
Food can be an excellent medium for harmful bacteria to grow in, which is why there is so much concern. Laws have been made and Environmental Health are responsible for enforcing them.
However in our experience best results are achieved through co-operation and so the aim is always to assist businesses in meeting their legal obligations without resorting to the law, unless absolutely necessary.
