5. Salfords, Sidlow and South Earlswood Parish Council
The recommendations are to:
- Extend the existing parish of Salfords & Sidlow to South Earlswood and Whitebushes, which would include the recycling centre and Earlswood Common to the north and East Surrey Hospital and Royal Earlswood to the east of the railway.
- Change the name for the extended parish council to Salfords, Sidlow and South Earlswood Parish Council.
Proposed wards
The extended parish would be made up of five wards (to align with current polling districts) with a total of 14 councillors, broken down as follows:
| Parish ward | Forecast electorate: 1 May 2030 | Number of town councillors | Electors to councillors |
|---|---|---|---|
| Salfords North | 493 | 1 | 493 |
| Salfords South | 1,977 | 4 | 494 |
| Sidlow | 544 | 1 | 544 |
| South Earlswood | 1,827 | 4 | 457 |
| Whitebushes | 1,752 | 4 | 438 |
| Total: | 6,593 | 14 | 471 |
Proposed extension area
South Earlswood and Whitebushes are currently unparished, so we particularly want to hear from residents in these areas – whether you want things to stay the same or change. If you do not support the recommendation, the alternative options for these areas are:
- To remain without a parish council representing them
- To become a separate parish of South Earlswood and Whitebushes, served by eight councillors
- For the area to become part of a new town council with the Redhill area
