2025-26 budget consultation summary

Budget Consultation 2025/26 

The consultation on the draft budget for 2025/26 ran from 18 November 2024 to 13 January 2025. 

Residents and stakeholders were invited to offer feedback and comments on the budget proposals for the year, including savings, addition costs, and fees and charges. 

There were options to respond by survey (digital and paper), post and email. 

Consultation feedback 

Feedback from the consultation was considered by the Executive in January 2025 (moderngov.co.uk), as part of recommendation of the final budget for 2025/26 to Full Council.

Key findings included: 

  • Majority support for a Council Tax increase but concerns about the impact on residents. 
  • Mixed views on fees and charges increases. 
  • Majority support for all savings and income proposals. 
  • Mixed views on additional costs and spend. 
  • Mixed views on capital spending proposals. 
  • Support for the use of reserves to balance the budget.
