Timing
- Applications open: 1 December 2025
- Deadline for submissions: 16 January 2026
- Charity selection confirmed by: Early April 2026
All applicants will be contacted once the selection is complete.
How to apply
Please send the information below to the Mayor's Office within the application window.
- Charity name
- Main contact person (name, role, and contact details)
- About your charity – who you support, how you operate, and your impact within the borough
- Your goals for the next two years
- Ideas and resources you can bring to the partnership as a Mayor’s chosen charity
Once the Mayor-elect has been confirmed, you can invite them to visit your charity or attend an event in their capacity as a councillor using their Councillor contact details.
What it means to be a Mayor’s Charity
If selected, your charity will benefit from a range of support and opportunities, including:
- Visibility and recognition at the Annual Council and Mayor Making ceremony (you may be invited to give a short 2-minute talk)
- Use of the Town Hall to host events with the Mayor as co-host
- Publicity via the Mayors social media channels throughout the mayoral year
- Event Support including
- Marketing via social media and newsletters
- Access to an online ticket sales facility
- Help with creating a flyer advertising your event
- Fundraising / Networking charity events: organised by the Mayoral Events Officer (2–3 per year)
- Collections at civic events, such as Heritage Open Day, Civic Carol Service, and other receptions
- Speaking opportunities for the Mayor to promote your charity at community events (e.g. Rotary Club, Round Table), often resulting in donations
