Transport noise

4. Car alarm noise

It is possible that this activity could cause a statutory nuisance within the provisions of the Environmental Protection Act 1990, although this is not likely.

Vehicle alarms for most modern vehicles are also subject the Motor Vehicle (Construction and Use) Regulations 1986.

These regulations specify maximum permitted durations for which the alarm should sound. They are enforced by the police and the Driver and Vehicle Standards Agency (DVSA).

You can make a noise complaint online.

We would also advise you to contact the police and the Driver and Vehicle Standards Agency (DVSA)

We will need to know exactly where the activity is taking place, when it may be witnessed by our officers and any other relevant information (such as the name of company is involved, what is being advertised and how).
