5. Redhill and Reigate Town Council
Redhill and Reigate are the two largest towns in the borough and together form around 40,000, or 40%, of the borough electorate (projection for 2030). As the boundaries between the two towns are not always clearly defined, the recommendation is to bring both towns together into a single new parish of Redhill and Reigate split into eight wards along the same boundaries as the county divisions and borough wards. The proposed name of this parish is Redhill and Reigate Town Council.
Merstham is considered by some to be more closely aligned with Redhill than with the Banstead and the villages in the north of the borough so Merstham is included in the recommendations for Redhill and Reigate. Whitebushes and South Earlswood are considered by some to be geographically separate from Redhill and have been included in the recommendation for Salfords, Sidlow and South Earlswood Parish Council.
The wards and the number of councillors recommended are as follows:

Some responses to the summer consultation suggested two separate town councils would better reflect the separate identities of Redhill and Reigate. However, there appears to be significant overlap between the two towns and no clear boundary.
We are particularly interested to hear from residents about their preference for one, two or no parish council(s) in the area; and for their views on the proposed boundaries.
