Local authority environmental permits (England and Wales) - Gov.UK

Your application will be made via the Environment Agency Website, once payment has been made they will send your application onto us. A couple of useful pieces of information on the application process can be found below:

  • When you submit your application, if there isn’t sufficient detail or information/ documents are missing your application may not be determined as ‘duly made’ and a delay could occur with processing your application.
  • When uploading your application you can add supporting information. This might include maps/ plans, maintenance schedules or staff training records for example.
  • When you submit your application you will need to pay the relevant fee. You will need a credit or debit card handy to pay online. Applications won’t be considered if the required  fee hasn’t been paid.

Please ensure you pay the exact and correct fee, we advise you contact us to clarify the relevant fee prior to applying.

Surrender a permit

If you no longer require your environmental permit you can surrender your permit using the green button above. Please note if someone is taking over the operation from you, it may be useful to consider a transfer of permit than a surrender to avoid the new owner potentially operating without a valid permit.

PPC fees and charges

Fees and charges for the permitting regime are set by central government and not by individual Local Authorities.

For further information visit the Environment Agency webpage on fees and charges (Gov.UK).

The Council currently invoices permit holders for their yearly subsistence fees. Please ensure when your invoice arrives this is paid promptly, as if fees are not paid promptly this could jeopardise your permit:
