4. Wheatley Court, Cromwell Road - completed 2022
Overview
Cromwell Road, now known as Wheatley Court, is a flagship development by the Council in the heart of Redhill completed in 2022.
The site was a highly constrained, underused brownfield site which was in poor condition. It has been brought back into use with a new build modern, low energy building providing much needed affordable housing and commercial space in a sustainable location.
The development includes 32 one- and two- bedroom high quality flats, and ground floor commercial space delivered by contractor, Neilcott Construction Limited. The flats have been allocated to households on the Council’s housing register to meet local demand.
The building, designed by MH Architects, goes beyond building regulations in terms of energy performance, with enhanced fabric U-values, MVHR units and boiler heat recovery units. In times of energy price inflation, we hope these will help to mitigate some of this impact.
Mount Green Housing Association were awarded the management and maintenance contract for the block following a competitive tender process.
Wheatley Court was named the region’s Best Large Social Housing Development in the LABC Building Excellence Awards 2022. Best large social housing development - 2022 | LABC.
The Council secured planning consent for the development in September 2018 (18/01158/F).
