The rose garden is used for the scattering of ashes with commemorative plaques.
We now need to carry out essential works to some of the older rose beds, used between 1953 and 1977. This is to improve the appearance of these beds and for the long-term maintenance of the Garden of Remembrance.
We plan to reduce the size of these rose beds – replacing the rose bushes that are in poor condition with a rose tree in each bed. All remaining commemorative plaques will be carefully repositioned around the new trees.
The rose beds that will be affected are:
- R47 (Lawn 3)
- R48 (Lawn 1)
- R49 (Lawn 1)
- R50 (Lawn 1)
We plan to start these improvement works at the end of April 2026. If you are affiliated with any plaque placed on these rose beds and wish to discuss this, please contact cemeteries@reigate-banstead.gov.uk
