Safeguarding

‘Safeguarding’ is the term used to describe how we can protect adults and children who are at risk of harm. The safety and well-being of adults and children is a key responsibility of local authorities, but anyone can raise a safeguarding concern. For example, a friend, family member, carer, a professional working with people with care and support needs or someone who thinks they themselves have been abused.

If you are worried that someone is at risk of abuse, neglect or harm please report it.

Reporting a safeguarding concern

Emergencies

  • Dial 999 for the police or ambulance services

Concerns for an adult experiencing health issues and/or concerns about abuse or neglect

Concerns for a child

  • Children's Single Point of Access (C-SPA), (9am - 5pm, Monday to Friday)

Concerns of domestic abuse

  • Surrey Domestic Abuse Helpline (9am - 9pm, seven days per week)
  • East Surrey Domestic Abuse Services (ESDAS), (9am - 4pm, Monday to Friday)
  • National Domestic Abuse Helpline, 24hr
