We carried out a public consultation on the proposed renewal of the Redhill Town Centre and Memorial Park Public Spaces Protection Order (PSPO) between 16 July and 24 August 2026. The consultation aimed to gather views on the effectiveness of the existing PSPO, experiences of anti-social behaviour in Redhill town centre and Memorial Park, whether the existing restrictions should be retained, and whether the PSPO should be extended for a further three years.

Promotion and response

The consultation was promoted through a press release, social media, stakeholder engagement, posters and leaflets in public buildings, direct communications with businesses and market traders, and engagement through theCommunity Development and Community Safety Officers.

A total of 349 responses were received. Most respondents were residents, although businesses, workers and visitors to the town centre also took part. Of those who provided demographic information, 48% were female and 42% were male. The largest age groups were 55-64 (23%) and 45-54 (21%). Most respondents identified as White British (77%), and 80% reported that they were not limited in their day-to-day activities by a long-term health condition or disability.

The results should be considered in light of the fact that younger age groups and some ethnic minority groups were underrepresented in comparison with local census data.
