Hiring contractors

From time to time the Council hires contractors to carry out tasks which may up to that point be performed by our own staff.

In order to protect our staff on those occasions, we make it a condition of the contract that the contractors will employ our staff on the same terms and with access to a broadly comparable pension scheme.

This arrangement is in accordance with TUPE, the Business transfers, takeovers and TUPE (Gov.uk website) and the Cabinet Office's Principles of Good Employment Practice (Gov.uk website).
