This page is about the Food Hygiene Rating Scheme for the business and how to request a re-visit.

If you make the improvements to hygiene standards that the Environmental Health Officer has required, you can ask for a re-visit before the next planned inspection so that the hygiene standards in your premises can be reassessed with a view to giving you an improved food hygiene rating.

There is a non-refundable charge of £312 payable in advance for this service.  The re-rating visit will be unannounced and will be carried out within 3 months of receipt of payment.

  • There is no limit to the number of times you can request a re-rating inspection, however a fee of £312 will be charged for each request.
  • If we fail to visit within 3 months of receipt of payment, we will refund your payment and carry out a free re-rating visit.
  • The inspecting officer will give a food hygiene rating based on the level of compliance that was found at the time of the inspection.  Please note that ratings can go up, down or remain the same.
  • Any non-compliance with food law found during an inspection will be assessed using our published enforcement policy and the Food Hygiene Rating Scheme Brand Standard.
  • Paying for a revisit under the Food Hygiene Rating Scheme does not guarantee an improvement in your Food Hygiene Rating.  The improvement of hygiene rating is entirely dependent on the Food Business Operators compliance with relevant legislation.
