You will be advised further in this matter before a licence is issued. If there are restrictions on the length of time you may work in the UK, your licence will not be issued for any longer than this period. In such circumstances the check will be repeated each time you apply to renew or extend your licence, If, during this period, you are disqualified from holding a licence because you have not complied with the UK’s immigration laws. your licence will lapse and you must return it to the licensing authority. Failure to do so is a criminal offence.

In making this decision we will consider the nature of the offence, how long ago and what age you were when it was committed and any other factors which may be relevant. If you are refused a driving licence on the ground that you are not a fit and proper person to hold such a licence you have a right of appeal to the Magistrates’ Court.

Refunds

The fee is broken down into two elements (the application fee and licence fee). Once an application  has been successfully made to Licensing, in that it has been logged and a reference number has been generated, and no licence has been issued then a refund of the licence fee component would be applicable. If a licence has been issues we are unable to offer any refund, e.g. have a three-year licence but only need it for 18 months for example. Should any costs be borne by the applicant to third parties (not RBBC) and the applicant withdraws their application, then RBBC are not responsible for these costs and any requests for refunds (if applicable) need to be made direct to the parties in question.
