Community development and the Merstham Community Facility
This page provides information on community development activities on the Merstham estate and activities at the Merstham Community Facility.
Reigate & Banstead Borough Council, Surrey County Council, Raven Housing Trust, and a local charity jointly fund a Community Development Worker.
She supports local groups in developing projects which will benefit Merstham, and helps to ensure service providers and community groups work together to benefit the Merstham community. To contact Merstham's Community Development Worker email mersthamcdproject@reigate-banstead.gov.uk.
Merstham Community Facility
2009 saw the opening of the Merstham Community Facility at 44 Portland Drive, which is now the base for a wide range of activities and learning opportunities, including a regular Job Club, a monthly arts group for dads and kids and a weekly IT drop in. The Merstham Community Facility is also the base for the Merstham Community Development Worker.
In January 2012, the Merstham Community Facility Trust, working with local partners, opened at second unit in the Portland Drive parade. 28 Portland Drive is now home to a 'pop up' fruit and veg shop, open from 9am - 1pm Monday to Wednesday. Various activities, including complementary therapies and craft, are also run in the rear room at 28 Portland Drive, meaning that more is on offer for local people to get involved in.
