2. Information for candidates

If you are standing for election as a Borough Councillor, you should read the Guidance for Candidates and Agents at local government elections in England (Electoral Commission).

You can request further advice from us by emailing elreg@reigate-banstead.gov.uk.  

The deadline for formal hand-delivery of nomination papers to stand as a candidate in this by-election is 4pm on Friday 10 July 2026, however it is strongly recommended that:

  • draft nomination papers and election addresses are submitted via email to elreg@reigate-banstead.gov.uk  for informal checking before formally delivering your nomination papers; and,
  • appointments for formal hand-delivery (only) of nomination papers are booked with the Returning Officer via email to elreg@reigate-banstead.gov.uk Appointments can be made between 10am-4pm on working days between 3 July and 10 July 2026.
