Elections and Coronavirus

Polling stations will be safe places to vote

We are reviewing arrangements for the elections on 5 May 2022 very carefully to ensure that voters are safe and able to cast their vote.

To keep yourself and others safe on polling day, please:

  • wear a face covering inside the polling station
  • sanitise your hands using the hand sanitiser provided
  • maintain social distancing at all times
  • bring your own pen or pencil to mark your ballot paper, if possible.

You can vote at your polling station, by post, or by proxy

There are three ways to cast your vote:

  • In person: this means going to the polling station to vote on polling day.
  • By post: this means we will send you a postal voting pack so you can complete your ballot paper at home and return it by post.
  • By proxy: this means appointing a person a vote on your behalf at your polling station.

If you want to vote by post or by proxy, you should apply early

You can apply to vote by post or proxy either permanently, or for the elections on 5 May 2022 only.

If you normally vote at your polling station but want to vote by post or proxy, you should apply as early as possible.

You can download an application to vote by post or proxy or contact us by emailing elreg@reigate-banstead.gov.uk to request one.
