Reigate Town History Treasure Trail

The Treasure Trail has been published as part of the 150th anniversary celebrations of the Royal Charter of 1863, which made Reigate into a Municipal Borough.

Follow the historic treasure trail through Reigate town centre that starts in Priory Park and finishes at Reigate castle.

You can download the leaflet for the trail below.

Copies of the leaflet can also be found at Reigate Library, in the pavilion in Priory Park, Redhill Library and the Harlequin.

Reigate's historical significance

Eileen Wood, Curator of Reigate Priory Museum contributed to the leaflet, highlighting Reigate’s importance as a coaching halt between London and Brighton and other destinations. There used to be 50 coaches a day.

Historically significant buildings and other important finds, such as the Reigate Doublet, are located on the Trail, so that adults and children can find physical remnants of the town’s history in modern Reigate.

The historic treasure trail has been produced by the Reigate and Redhill 150 Year Celebration Steering Group.
