2. Survey results - participation and key findings
Participation
We received 72 responses to the survey. Table 1 shows the age profile of participants. Ages 55 to 84 are well represented among participants, but responses from younger adults under 25 were limited. Of those who gave their gender, 10 (21.7%) said they were male and 35 (76.1%) were female. 1 person preferred not to say, and no one identified as non-binary or indicated that their gender identity was not listed. 26 participants chose to skip this question.

Key findings
The percentages below are based on the total responses for each question, full details of number of responses received to each question is provided in the results.
- 56.5% of participants would like to introduce intergenerational activities that bring together different age groups (total of 69 responses to this question).
- 57.4% of participants would like physical changes made to make the building easily accessible for wheelchairs and pushchairs (total of 68 responses to this question).
- 44.2% of participants felt that Horley Community Centre offering health and beauty services (such as hairdressers, beauty salon, chiropody, physiotherapy) was very important (total of 52 responses to this question).
- 80.4% of participants would like a coffee shop, snack bar and light lunches as part of a combined café offering (total of 46 responses to this question).
- The word most frequently used by participants to describe a successful modern community centre was ‘Welcoming’ (total of 44 responses to this question).
